Tanya Shively, ASID, LEED AP
Principal Designer, Owner tanya@sesshudesign.com
With a natural drawing talent and gifted eye for color, Tanya will help you to visualize your completed project throughout the design process, from conceptual plans to all-inclusive interiors with furnishings and accessories. Those artistic talents, coupled with her ability to understand your desires and produce a unique and beautiful space that feels wonderful to you, truly distinguish her as an interior designer.
Lifelong Passion for Interior Design
As a child, Tanya developed a keen interest in art, architecture and interior design that has never wavered. Drawing, building forts, creating dream homes out of LEGOS or Lincoln Logs, and redecorating her bedroom were favorite pastimes growing up in the rural Wyoming countryside. Realizing that interior design was her passion, she followed her heart and obtained her degree in Interior Design in 1997.
Believing in the importance of interior design as a public safety, health and welfare concern, Ms. Shively completed the 7 year process of education, work experience and examination to attain NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualifications) Certification. She is a professional member of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers), a designation allowed only to interior designers who have demonstrated competence in design by taking and passing the NCIDQ exam.
She continues to pursue education and knowledge in all aspects of interior design, and in 2009 she also became a LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Accredited Professional, demonstrating knowledge of green design practices as recognized by the USGBC (United States Green Building Council).
Award Winning Design
Tanya’s award winning interior designs and work in four states have earned the respect of her clients and the recognition for excellence from her colleagues. Her awards include:
- Furnishings – Product Design, 2nd Place, 2001 ASID Awards
- Residential Interior Design (Over 6000 sq ft), 2nd Place, 2003 ASID Awards
- Custom Residential Design (Over 6000 sq ft), 2004 Best in American Living Platinum Award
Green Design Advocate and Practice
A native of spectacular Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Ms Shively was influenced early in her life by the majestic beauty of the Teton mountain range. Now for nearly two decades her home has been the deserts of Arizona, but over the years she has lived in Montana, Rhode Island and Michigan.
The natural grandeur of each place finds its way into many of her designs in the form of spacious interiors that provide a sense of place and well-being to the homeowner. Inspired by the natural beauty she has known for a lifetime, Tanya actively seeks ways to protect it by incorporating environmentally responsible and sustainable design into her projects. You will appreciate how easily green design fits into your luxury home with her guidance.
