A major renovation project in the luxury golf community, Desert Mountain. this home was built in the 90’s and needed a face-lift with new flooring in bedrooms and offices, new wall and ceiling treatments, and all new furnishings.
The high wood ceiling in the great room had been painted and a refinish to a gorgeous warm stained wood made the space feel more inviting. The fireplaces were updated with new stacked stone and copper surrounds from the original faux paint.
The renovation included expansion of the master closet and the patios, including opening the great room with pocketing sliding doors that embraced the views to create a contemporary home that exudes comfort.

Client

The couple who live in this home during the winter months and spend summers in Lake Tahoe were ready to make this home their own. After using it for just vacations for several years, they had now retired and planned to spend much longer stretches of time in the house. They wanted it to now reflect their tastes and suit their lifestyle better.

The wife wanted a larger closet, more color, and an updated look throughout the home. The husband wanted all the frosted glass with etched birds (the former owner’s passion) erased and replaced with a more sophisticated look.

Our Task

Originally built in the 90’s, this home was ready for a refresh. The structure was good, but some spaces were a bit small, and some details were feeling outdated. Purchased furnished, the former owner’s personality was too evident with a bird motif throughout.
We addressed all the main living areas with new finishes to create a more inviting look that felt comfortable in the desert surroundings. Patios were expanded and reworked to become pleasant outdoor living spaces. The exterior was renovated from a modern, white, slightly out-of-place style to a more modern, sophisticated and rich look with desert colors and stone accents.
