What is a professional Interior Designer?
To be a professional member of ASID, an interior designer must take and pass a national qualifying exam (the NCIDQ), before which they have to undergo a rigorous training. They are required to have 7 years of education and experience in order to take the exam. After passing the exam, they continue to take courses in health, safety and new design technology to keep their certification current. Within their realm, interior designers are responsible for protecting the health, safety and welfare of the public.
