Interior Design Trends: Mixing Metals

Trends: Mixing Metals

It used to be considered a design no-no to mix warm and cool metals in the same space. But lately we are finding that it can be really interesting to use stainless and brushed brass, for instance, together in the kitchen. The warmth of the brass softens and mellows the steel, and the coolness of steel keeps the brass from being too brash or dated.

It is also interesting to pair brass with burnished copper. The combination creates a rich, sophisticated effect: warm and natural, yet gleaming with depth and color.

The very newest is the Ombré finish from Kohler – it softly transitions from nickel to rose gold in a stunning way.
